The following data was derived from the Dulverton (Somerset, UK) practice, and was used for the General Osteopathic Council's revalidation pilot programme. The data is derived from case history Patient Reported Outcome Measures. This is a demonstration of clinical efficiency in terms of patient management and effective patient rehabilitation.

Treatment Modality Data Group One: High Velocity Thrust

Treatment Modality Data Group Two: High Velocity Thrust, Muscle Energy Technique.

Treatment Modality Data Group Three: Muscle Energy Technique.

Treatment Modality Data Group Four: Soft tissue Neuromuscular Technique only

Group One

Recovery rates using HVT, articulation and Soft Tissue/Neuromuscular Technique

This shows an overall efficiency rating of 2.1 treatments to 80% improved and 2.9 treatments to 100% improved. This group tends to contain individuals without any systemic pathology. allowing the use of the fastest methods of treatment.

Group Two

Recovery rates using HVT, Muscle Energy Technique, articulation and Soft Tissue/Neuromuscular Technique

This shows an overall efficiency rating of 3.2 treatments to 80% improved and 3.9 treatments to 100% improved. This group contained a mixture of individuals, some of which had either very chronic pain or a systemic condition which precluded the use of HVT in certain areas.

Group Three

Recovery rates using Muscle Energy Technique, articulation and Soft Tissue/Neuromuscular Technique

This shows an overall efficiency rating of 4.0 treatments to 80% improved and 4.5 treatments to 100% improved. This group contained a individuals, with chronic pain or a systemic condition which precluded the use of HVT.

Group Four

Recovery rates using articulation and Soft Tissue/Neuromuscular Technique

This shows an overall efficiency rating of 2.6 treatments to 80% improved and 3.5 treatments to 100% improved.This group contained individuals with chronic pain, severe osteoarthrosis or systemic pathology which even MET was thought to be contraindicated

Combined data from all groups

The combined efficiency rating is 3.0 treatments to 80% improved and 3.7 treatments to 100% improved.All conditions and underlying pathology It is interesting to note that nearly one third of musculoskeletal conditions can be treated to 100% improvement in Two treatments.
